Avionics Technician-Ground Test Inspector (GTI) will be responsible for the planning, execution and validation of Ground Tests in the Final Assembly Line. This includes demonstrating conformity of aircraft systems to the design specifications through attestation in the Airbus Test System (ESAO). Initiate actions to isolate, document and eliminate any deviations detected.
Airbus is an authorized DoD Skill Bridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment.
Skill Bridge Eligibility- Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.
- Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization.
- Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.

• U.S. Assembly Facility
On the ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and is part of Airbus’ strategy to meet growing needs in the United States and beyond.
Kinston, NC and Columbus, MS locations also form part of the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing footprint, with capabilities in large, advanced composite aerostructures and helicopter manufacturing.
Your ChallengesPerform Ground Tests
- Prepare the aircraft and workstation surroundings for ground tests on various avionics and electrical systems in a safe environment.
- Perform function tests on all systems (flight controls, navigation, passenger entertainment, etc.) in parallel to the assembly of the aircraft up to Flight Testing.
- Document non-conformities in the SAP NC system and initiate retests after rework.
- Collaborate with Ground Test Design, Engineering, Quality and Shop Floor departments.
Perform Troubleshooting (T/S)
- Troubleshoot test systems and aircraft systems.
- Coordinate troubleshooting and classify error types.
- Clarify problems with the engineering department and ensure safety throughout the process until test closure.
Execute ground tests following released documents and work orders, ensuring quality, cost and time goals; record measurements in released documents when required.
Support improvement measures
- Identify problems to continuously improve on-time and on-quality production processes.
- Perform and verify operational tests and attest conformity of aircraft or major assemblies per released documentation (e.g., GTIs, RTIs, Retest Sheets, Work Orders).
- Upload software equipment on/off aircraft if needed and extract electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
- Launch Practical Problem Solving (PPS) for continuous improvements and conduct root cause analysis when results are not compliant.
Declaration and follow-up of non-conformities for rework or certification, according to procedures.

- Ability to successfully complete trainings provided by Airbus

- 2 years minimum experience as an Aircraft Avionics Technician with a focus on aircraft systems (electrical preferred).
