Job Description

Avionics Technician‑Ground Test Inspector (GTI) will be responsible for the planning, execution, and validation of Ground Tests in the Final Assembly Line. This includes demonstrating conformity within aircraft systems to the design specifications through attestation in the Airbus Test System (ESAO) and initiating actions to isolate, document, and eliminate any detected deviations.

Skill Bridge Eligibility

  • Active‑duty service member within 180 days of separation.
  • Written Commander (O‑4 or above) authorization.
  • Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.

Mobile, AL

U.S. Assembly Facility
Open in 2015, the Mobile Aeroplex produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second A220 line in 2019, strengthening U.S. aerospace competitiveness.

Kinston, NC
Specializing in large composite aerostructures for the A350 XWB, the Aerosystems facility builds critical components such as the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Columbus, MS
Vertically integrated helicopter manufacturing and assembly of UH‑72A Lakota and H‑125 aircraft for military and commercial customers.

Your Challenges

Perform Ground Tests

  • Prepare aircraft and workstation for ground tests on avionics and electrical systems in a safe environment.
  • Perform function tests on all systems (flight controls, navigation, passenger entertainment, etc.) concurrently with assembly.
  • Document any non‑conformities in the SAP NC system and initiate associated retests after rework.
  • Collaborate with Ground Test Design, Engineering, Quality, and Shop Floor departments.

Perform Troubleshooting (T/S)

  • Diagnose and resolve test system and aircraft system issues.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and classify error types.
  • Clarify problems with the engineering department.
  • Ensure safety of personnel and aircraft throughout testing.
  • Execute ground tests following released documents and associated work orders, balancing quality, cost, and time.
  • Enter and record measured values during the test where required by documentation.

Support improvement measures

  • Identify and address internal issues to continuously improve “On Time On Quality” production.
  • Perform and verify operational tests, attesting conformity of aircraft or constituent assemblies per released documentation.
  • Upload software equipment on/off aircraft and perform additional required installations.
  • Extract electrical schematics for troubleshooting, performing specific tests to identify root causes.
  • Launch Practical Problem Solving (PPS) for continuous improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for non‑compliant test results using GTP procedures.
  • Investigate test tool failures, aircraft equipment failures, and installation discrepancies.
  • Declare and follow up on non‑conformity for rework or certification per procedure.
Your Boarding Pass

Required Education

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Completion of Airbus training programs
  • Health & Safety knowledge
  • General aircraft familiarization
  • Quality Training

Preferred Education

  • Vocational or employer training in application tools and techniques.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years as an Aircraft Avionics Technician focused on electrical systems.
  • Minimum 2 years troubleshooting aircraft systems.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience as a Quality Inspector on avionics systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities

  • Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean‑as‑you‑go, FOD), and OSHA regulations.
