Overview
CYP Assistants (Multi-Level) - CDC - Full-Time Work directly with children and youth, keeping them actively engaged, well-cared for, and safe while participating in the CYP. Assist with developing social skills, healthy choices, self-help and school readiness, and exploration of the environment.
Duties- Help:
The duties and responsibilities of the CY Program Assistant are grouped into categories including curriculum, indoor/outdoor environment, interactions and relationships, supervision of children and youth, parent and employee communication, assessment, compliance, and additional responsibilities. Each is described below.
- Curriculum — Develops schedules and activity plans; reviews and inputs into plans prepared by entry level and intermediate CY Program Assistants. Ensures program plans and activities address individual needs.
- Implements activities and events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth. Incorporates parental instructions (e.g., dietary or physical needs).
- Prepares and implements options for children and youth with special requirements; cares for children with special needs as directed by the supervisor.
- Demonstrates, instructs, leads, and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities.
- Models developmentally appropriate practice and management techniques; promotes safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices; assists with snacks or meals where applicable.
- Indoor and Outdoor Environment — Prepares and maintains indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials; sets up displays and bulletin boards; inventories equipment and replenishes supplies; secures supplies, equipment, and facilities.
- Interactions and Relationships — Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth and adults; uses approved guidance techniques.
- Supervision of Children and Youth — Provides care, supervision, and accountability in compliance with DoD, NAF Components, and local policies; maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety; supervises during daily activities, field trips, and events; ensures departure with authorized persons per parental instructions; observes for illness, abuse, or neglect and reports as directed (mandatory reporter).
- Parent and Employee Communication — Interacts professionally with staff, parents, and command personnel; provides daily feedback about children/youth or activities; participates in conferences.
- Assessment — Observes and documents developmental progression or concerns; uses information for planning; participates in program evaluation using specified tools.
- Compliance — Assists in achieving DoD certification and national accreditation; ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations; notifies supervisor of health, safety, and compliance concerns.
- Additional Responsibilities — Collects, maintains, and reports participation data; performs other related duties as assigned.
- Starting May 7, 2025, REAL
-compliant driver’s license or acceptable to access certain installations. - Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Complete required training certificates and maintain certifications/credentials required by DoD, Federal, State, or national accreditation bodies.
- Pass all applicable background checks; pre-employment and random drug testing; pre-employment physical; immunizations; be free of communicable diseases.
- Employment contingent upon providing education documentation if not provided at application time.
- DoD policy considerations on controlled substances; marijuana prohibition; automatic disqualification for certain offenses; mandatory disclosures per DoDI 1402.05.
- Selective Service registration or exemption; direct deposit;
Social Security Card required.
