Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and oversight of the nursing department to ensure the highest quality of resident care. This role ensures clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. The DON partners closely with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to maintain survey readiness, support staff development, and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee delivery of high‑quality nursing care and comprehensive care planning.
  • Drive accountability for regulatory compliance and continuous survey readiness.
  • Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to support strong clinical outcomes.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff to promote accountability, retention, and positive team culture.
  • Manage staffing, training, and daily operations of the nursing department.
  • Provide visible leadership presence and collaborate effectively with administration.
Qualifications
  • An active RN license in the state required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive nursing leadership experience in hospital or long‑term care, including geriatric and/ or psychiatric care.
  • Strong clinical, regulatory, and survey knowledge.
  • Experience in rehabilitation and restorative nursing care.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team‑building skills.
Supervision of Others

Directs and delegates the management of professional and ancillary nursing staff.
