This exciting opportunity is based within the Youth Service and involves working at the Lighthouse Project.

No Straight Answer is a youth club for LGBTQIA+ young people providing support, opportunities and positive activities

The Youth Service provides support, information, advice, guidance and activities to support the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development of young people aged 9 - 19 years old. The Youth Service is a universal service which uses befriending and activities as a means to build long lasting positive and supportive relationships.

The salary shown is the FTE, this will be pro rata to the number of hours for this part-time position.

The Youth Worker will be required to effectively:

  • Provide support, advice and guidance to young people aged 9 - 19 years old
  • Liaise with referrals and develop sessions based on their needs
  • Oversee positive, developmental and diversionary activities during the youth sessions
  • Support the Lead Youth Worker/Youth Work Practitioner with duties that improve the youth provision

If you are an individual who relates well to young people and are passionate about wantingto help and support them on their journey to adulthood, please apply. The right candidate for this role will have:

  • Extensive experience of working with and supporting young people
  • Childcare/Youth Work/Play work qualification NVQ 3 or equivalent in desirable
  • Experience of effective engagement with vulnerable and complex young people in a group work capacity
  • The ability to deliver youth work at times when young people are best able to access the offer, which will include evenings, weekends and occasional trips away including overnight
  • The ability to address equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them
