Voices of Hope (Charity No. 1187454) is a Kingston-based charity supporting women and children facing gender-based violence, poverty and systemic disadvantage.
Since registering in 2020, the charity has grown significantly and now:
- Supports over 530 women annually through Specialist Women’s Hubs
- Reaches over 1,010 families weekly through BRITE Box across 8 boroughs
- Delivers Creative Arts and therapeutic wellbeing programmes improving mental and physical health outcomes
We operate with formal Financial Regulations and robust governance processes. As we continue to scale delivery and diversify income, we are seeking a Treasurer to provide strategic financial oversight at Board level.
The roleThe Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Trustees and shares collective responsibility for the governance and strategic direction of the charity.
The Treasurer’s overarching role is to:
- Maintain an overview of the charity’s financial affairs
- Ensure its financial viability and sustainability
- Ensure that proper financial records, procedures and controls are maintained
- Support the Board in fulfilling its legal duties regarding financial stewardship
- Oversee, review and present budgets, management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board
- Ensure appropriate accounting procedures and financial controls are in place and operating effectively
- Provide oversight of reserves policy and cashflow forecasting
- Ensure compliance with charity accounting standards (SORP) and statutory requirements
- Oversee the preparation and submission of annual accounts and returns to the Charity Commission
- Ensure appropriate independent examination or audit is conducted where required
- Advise the Board on the financial implications of strategic plans and growth decisions
- Support long‑term financial planning and sustainability
- Contribute to income diversification and fundraising strategy
- Provide constructive challenge on financial risk, investment decisions and restricted funding management
We are seeking a qualified accountant (ICAEW member or equivalent) who offers:
- Strong financial management and governance experience
- Experience reviewing or preparing statutory accounts
- Ability to interpret financial data and communicate clearly to non‑financial trustees
- Sound judgement and willingness to provide appropriate challenge
- Commitment to the mission of supporting women and children facing disadvantage

Time Commitment- 4–6 Trustee meetings per year (hybrid, evening)
- Quarterly finance reviews
- Ad hoc support as required
Estimated commitment: approximately 4-8 hours per month.
This is an unpaid voluntary role. Reasonable expenses may be reimbursed.
