Position: Study Skills Specialist (Autism Spectrum Condition)

Optimum Student Support training course:
Autism and ADHD in Higher

Education:

Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies

You will be working with students to provide strategies to develop the study skills required when studying in higher education. This includes skills in acquiring, recalling, and retaining information in written and spoken language, and strategies to develop memory, organisation, attention, and numeracy skills.

Qualifications:

A degree (any subject) and; A teaching qualification (Level 7 or above) OR a PGCert in Autism and.

Training Modules

Six National Autistic Society (NAS) online training modules:

  • Understanding autism
  • Autism and communication
  • Autism and sensory experience
  • Autism, stress and anxiety
  • Autism: supporting families
  • Autism and Girls

It is desirable that applicants have experience in a similar role within the last five years. Applicants should also have an understanding of the impact of disabilities in the further/higher education context.

Applicants must be able to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

By the start of employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996. This post is also subject to satisfactory references, as well as other applicable pre-employment checks.
