Overview
We seek to appoint a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Computer Science with a broad profile in contemporary applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Applicants should have a track record of publications and academic achievement to complement the research in the School of Computer Science and Mathematics, and the ability to contribute to the disciplines of AI and Computer Science, preferably in applications related to explainable AI and applications of AI.
Responsibilities- Contribute to research and teaching in AI and Computer Science, with emphasis on explainable AI and applications of AI.
- Collaborate with the newly established Knowledge Exchange and Research Institute (KERI) and contribute to the new BSc AI course.
- Deliver high-quality teaching using modern pedagogic approaches to develop student profiles as part of the University’s Future Skills initiative.
- Lead and work with a team of lecturers to enhance the School’s profile through research leadership and teaching excellence.
- Engage with industry and society to maximise impact through publications and research activities.
- PhD in Computer Science or closely related area and an appropriate higher education teaching qualification (such as FHEA).
- Established and rich research profile with publications in AI, computer vision, machine learning, or related fields.
- Ability to contribute to cross-disciplinary research and education within the Faculty of Engineering, Computing & the Environment.
- An effective communicator and leader in research and teaching.
This is a fixed-term opportunity for 3 years. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 3 years. In person interviews are expected to be held 15 April 2026.
