Responsibilities
Assist in the completion of tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing personal and corporate tax returns (and other compliance slips), preparing year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s), calculating and reviewing share capital, trust tax returns, partnership returns, capital dividend account elections, section 85 tax elections and other tax compliance forms.Review legal documents such as articles of incorporation, purchase agreements and amalgamation agreementsIdentify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutionsCorrespond with clients and various government agencies to address client tax compliance issuesAssist in the preparation of tax instruction letters, technical memorandums and client reporting letters and documentation to support a working paper fileWork collaboratively with the client engagement teamAssist in the preparation of tax instruction letters, technical memorandums and client reporting letters and documentation to support a working paper fileSkills and Experience
Post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting or another relevant fieldExperience in an accounting, customer service and/or client service environment is preferredExperience in financial statement analysis and preparation of tax returns is considered an assetWorking knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax ActExperience working with accounting and tax software is considered an assetThe Annual salary range for this position is $40,000 to $60,000
