Position SummaryReporting directly to the Senior US Operations Director, the Plant Manager’s primary responsibilities include the daily management and coordination of plant operations, ensuring profitability and compliance with labor, safety, environmental, and corporate policies. In collaboration with their management team, this role oversees activities related to production, maintenance, sanitation, receiving, and shipping. The Plant Manager provides leadership to the facility and ensures effective communication between departments, quality control, other plants, and corporate offices.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Responsibilities
- Develop and execute annual plans and budgets in collaboration with the Senior Director.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, labor laws, and environmental regulations.
- Promote continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and safety practices.
- Monitor plant expenditures and enforce company policies.
- Oversee production planning, resource allocation, and reporting.
- Coordinate with R&D and product teams on new strategies.
Operational Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations to meet production schedules safely and efficiently.
- Ensure preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Analyze and resolve production issues to reduce losses.
- Support audits and maintain safety compliance.
- Manage external suppliers and special projects as needed.
Team Management Responsibilities
- Hire, train, and mentor staff to meet performance goals.
- Ensure team members are qualified and licensed appropriately.
- Provide leadership through supervision and team coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, Operations, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is an asset.
- 7–12 years of experience in the food industry in similar roles.
- Strong understanding of GMP and ERP systems.
- Experience with budgeting, financial practices, and expense management.
- Proficiency in continuous improvement tools (e.g., Six Sigma, 5S, Lean).
- Solid knowledge of safety systems and compliance enforcement.
- Proven leadership in motivating and developing teams.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Adaptable, analytical, results-driven, with strong decision-making abilities.
