The APRN will provide comprehensive outpatient care, including patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management. This role requires clinical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments
- Diagnose medical conditions and develop treatment plans
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications
- Collaborate with physicians and refer complex or non-routine cases as appropriate
- Monitor patient therapies and ensure continuity of care
- Triage patient calls and assess clinical concerns
- Respond to medical emergencies, including performing CPR when necessary
- Provide preventive health education and counseling to patients and families
- Accurately document patient care in the medical record and maintain required clinical data
- Master’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program
- Certification (or eligibility for certification) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an outpatient clinical setting
- Strong understanding of the medical model and collaborative roles of physicians and nurse practitioners
- Proficiency in anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis
- Expertise in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation
- Ability to gather and analyze physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data
- Strong clinical judgment in evaluating patient needs in person or by phone
- Effective care plan development and revision based on patient progress
- Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in a clear and approachable manner
- Sound decision-making within the scope of nurse practitioner practice
- Strong collaboration with physicians on complex cases
- Ability to competently use Microsoft Office and practice management software
- Current state registered nurse license
- Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority
- Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of advanced practice nursing, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, and diagnostic testing
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care
- Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment
- Knowledge of health promotion, risk identification, and patient education principles
- Knowledge of practice management systems including electronic health record systems (EHRs)
- Oral and written communication, medical histories, patient education materials, and documentation
- Case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking
- Adapting nursing methods to provide appropriate care and emergency response procedures
Equipment Operated:
Standard medical examination room equipment and instruments. Using computer/health information management system.
Work Environment:
Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lift and carry items as needed; maintain vision and hearing within normal ranges; ability to work under stress in emergency situations and potentially irregular hours.
