Overview

Coastal Health – Camden Office is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our growing Primary Care team. Position Summary

The APRN will provide comprehensive outpatient care, including patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management. This role requires clinical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments
  • Diagnose medical conditions and develop treatment plans
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications
  • Collaborate with physicians and refer complex or non-routine cases as appropriate
  • Monitor patient therapies and ensure continuity of care
  • Triage patient calls and assess clinical concerns
  • Respond to medical emergencies, including performing CPR when necessary
  • Provide preventive health education and counseling to patients and families
  • Accurately document patient care in the medical record and maintain required clinical data
Basic Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program
  • Certification (or eligibility for certification) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Experience
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in an outpatient clinical setting
Performance Expectations Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of the medical model and collaborative roles of physicians and nurse practitioners
  • Proficiency in anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis
  • Expertise in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation
Skills
  • Ability to gather and analyze physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data
  • Strong clinical judgment in evaluating patient needs in person or by phone
  • Effective care plan development and revision based on patient progress
Abilities
  • Sound decision-making within the scope of nurse practitioner practice
  • Strong collaboration with physicians on complex cases
  • Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in a clear and approachable manner
  • Physical ability to perform clinical duties requiring manual dexterity and coordination
Other Requirements
  • Current state registered nurse license
  • Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority
  • Current CPR certification
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of advanced practice nursing including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, nutrition, psychosocial factors, diagnostic testing, result interpretation, and clinical decision making
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, regulations, ethics, and patient care delivery
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment
  • Knowledge of health promotion, risk identification, and patient education principles
  • Knowledge of practice management systems including electronic health records (EHRs)
Other
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and practice management software

Equipment Operated:
Standard medical examination room equipment and instruments. Using computer/health information management system.

Work Environment:
Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lift/carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; correct vision and hearing to normal range; ability to work under stress in emergencies and occasionally irregular hours.
