Overview
Neway International are seeking a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our client based with Plymouth City Council.
- Location:
Ballard House, West Hoe Road, West Hoe, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 3BJ - Hours:
37 per week - Start Date:
16 February 2026 - Duration: one year
- Pay Rates:
- PAYE: £21.14 per hour
- Limited/Umbrella: £27.70 per hour
- Work Pattern: 2 days in office, 3 days remote
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will provide professional advice and support across the Council, helping services meet their health and safety responsibilities. The role involves advising managers, undertaking assessments, supporting wellbeing initiatives, and contributing to the development of policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
This is a key advisory role requiring strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across a large and diverse organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional health, safety and wellbeing advice to managers and staff across the Council.
- Support the development, implementation, and review of health and safety policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Undertake risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Assist services in meeting statutory duties and internal standards.
- Promote a positive safety culture and support wellbeing initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting requirements.
- Work collaboratively with HR, operational teams, and external partners.
- Support training delivery and awareness activities where required.
- Provide timely advice in response to queries, incidents, and emerging risks.
- Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Experience providing professional H&S advice within a complex organisation.
- Ability to undertake inspections, audits, and investigations.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to promoting wellbeing and a positive safety culture.
- Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
