* Position Summary:
**## This is the mid-skill craft level of the Nuclear Substation Technician hierarchy. A Nuclear Substation Technician II will assist a higher-level technician and sometimes safely lead in activities associated with nuclear substation maintenance activities. Within a highly regulated work area this position is designated to support and ensure all of Duke Energy’s Nuclear facilities are reliably connected through its seven PGO nuclear switchyards.
A Trans Nuc Switchyard Tech II typically operates within a geographic area supporting multiple nuclear facilities, however, will be deployed to other switchyards within other regions if workload demands. Incumbents are expected to develop technical and leadership skills and the ability to work independently and lead small activities with low to moderate levels of complexity. In addition, fosters a culture that values self-reporting of compliance violations/errors, human performance events, continuous improvement, and consistency between each area of responsibility.
This is a technically skilled craft level and is a critical role to the reliability of nuclear facilities, which generate to the grid through Nuclear Switchyards. Within a highly regulated work area this position is designated to support and ensure all of Duke Energy’s Nuclear facilities are reliably connected through its seven PGO nuclear switchyards. A Trans Nuc Switchyard Tech III typically operates within a geographic area supporting multiple nuclear facilities, however, will be deployed to other switchyards within other regions if workload demands.
As a point of contact between Nuclear and PGO this employee must be capable of representing all switchyard work. In addition, fosters a culture that values self-reporting of compliance violations/errors, human performance events, continuous improvement, and consistency between each area of responsibility.
An incumbent is expected to provide coaching on safety, technical and procedural matters while functioning as a leader of NSTs performing work within Nuclear Switchyards. This position requires the employee to be well versed in both PGO and Nuclear policies/procedures and through oversight be able to ensure construction and maintenance work is being executed within the documented boundaries. Incumbents must have the skills and ability to independently lead construction and maintenance activities plus be capable of serving on committees and enhance policy/procedures.
Moreover, must resolve matters associated with test equipment, switching and tagging, preventive maintenance, inspections, modifications, trouble shooting and heavy lifting.
The position will continue to develop with the execution and documentation of work to ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, NERC, NRC, NEIL, NOS, QA, etc., including environmental regulations associated with the maintenance of PGO switchyard and associated nuclear assets. This role provides a PGO perspective for switching, scheduling, procedure use and adherence, switchyard and 24kV interface agreement. In addition, the incumbent must be adaptive to working under two training programs, work methods, and safety expectations
