Overview
The City of Kingman is hiring seasonal Program Assistants to help support summer recreation programs for kids, teens, and adults. This role focuses on helping run activities, and supporting programs like sports, day camps, classes, and special events. It’s a great summer opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience working with people in a fun, active environment.
Responsibilities- Assisting Summer Programs & Activities (40%):
Support daily recreation programs by helping plan, prepare, and run activities such as sports, arts and crafts, day camps, field trips, and special events. Supervise participants, help maintain appropriate behavior, and ensure programs are organized and engaging. - Event Support (30%):
Prepare facilities, equipment, and service areas for daily activities. Assist with opening, closing, storing, securing, cleaning, and sanitizing program spaces and equipment. - General Program Support (20%):
Work alongside recreation staff, volunteers, and instructors to support programs and events. Greet patrons, answer questions, provide program information, and help maintain communication between staff and participants during activities and special events. - Administrative Operations (10%):
Assist with attendance tracking, registrations, and other basic program records. Observe safety conditions, report concerns, attend required trainings and meetings, and provide support for additional programs or events as needed throughout the summer.
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- One (1) or more years of experience helping with recreation programs, sports, camps, or similar activities OR a combination of education, training, and experience
- Ability to follow directions, maintain program standards, and enforce rules when needed
- CPR/First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of assignment
