Job Summary

Mohave County is hiring for three equipment service roles:
Equipment Services Technician
, Equipment Mechanic
, and Equipment Mechanic Senior
. These positions are responsible for maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding county vehicles and heavy equipment to OEM standards.

Location

3715 Sunshine Drive, Kingman, AZ.
Travel to various county locations is required.

Mission

To maintain and repair all County vehicles and equipment to OEM standards or better; to provide safe and reliable transportation to all Mohave County divisions and personnel that require vehicle use.

Responsibilities
  • Determine parts and materials needed and submit order forms.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions on all construction equipment and heavy vehicles.
  • Perform preventive maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and belt/tires checks.
  • Road‑test vehicles and operate equipment for diagnosis and confirmation of repairs.
  • Assist other mechanics and provide guidance to subordinate personnel.
  • Maintain daily work records and keep equipment tools clean and serviced.
  • Fabricate parts, hoses, and tools when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and shop/service manuals.
Minimum Qualifications Equipment Services Technician
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of education and/or experience in preventative maintenance of vehicles.
  • At least one year servicing heavy vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Basic arithmetic and reading ability for technical work.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
Equipment Mechanic
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair as a Trades Helper or Equipment Mechanic.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
Equipment Mechanic Senior
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five years experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, including overhauls.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Expertise in heavy equipment hydraulics, electrical systems, and engine components.
  • Ability to perform major repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds.
  • Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficient use of hand and power tools in confined positions.
  • Excellent communication and professionalism with coworkers and the public.
  • Ability to train and supervise subordinate personnel.
  • Physical stamina for lifting 20–50 lbs, standing, walking, and working outdoors in varying weather.
Working Conditions
  • Work outdoors, often in extreme heat or cold.
  • Travel to remote areas of Mohave County.
  • Exposure to exhaust fumes, chemicals, and loud machinery.
  • Regular schedule Monday‑Friday 7:00 am‑3:30 pm; weekends and holidays off; possible on‑call or overtime during emergencies.
  • Tools and equipment to be provided and maintained at employee cost.
  • Must pass drug screen after offer and obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License within six months of hire.
Salary and Benefits
  • Equipment Services Technician: $19.13–$23.54/hr (Steps 1‑8).
  • Equipment Mechanic: $22.15–$25.67/hr (Steps 1‑6).
  • Equipment Mechanic Senior: $24.42–$25.90/hr (Steps 1‑3).
