LPN or Medical Assistant (Per Diem) - Urgent Care

We are hiring for a Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant to join our Urgent Care team on a per diem basis.

Position

Purpose:

Provides nursing assistance and patient care to ensure comfort, safety, and personal needs of patients. Assists physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners in a medical office setting. Performs a variety of patient care duties within the construct of a multidisciplinary patient care team as delegated by physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • LPN
    • Work under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
    • Triage patients by phone or in person, receive and implement telephone physician orders, and maintain clinical communication in a dynamic environment.
    • Assist providers and staff in coordinating patient care for both clinic and procedures.
    • Perform CLIA‑waived lab tests and obtain specimens, perform proficiency testing, and run controls for waived tests.
    • May perform venipuncture.
  • MA
    • Responsible for patient care under the direct supervision of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner in the office suite or exam room.
    • Escort patient to the exam room and prepare patient for the exam including vital stats, history, and reason for seeking care.
    • Cross‑train in data entry, balancing of accounts, charge fees and collecting payments, scheduling and confirming appointments.
    • Perform CLIA‑waived lab tests and obtain specimens, perform proficiency testing, and run controls for waived tests.
    • May perform venipuncture.

Qualifications:

  • LPN Candidates
    • Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program.
    • High school or equivalent.
    • Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license.
    • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Level One DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • MA Candidates
    • High School or Equivalent.
    • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
    • Must meet one of the following criteria:
      • Have attended a medical assistant training program accredited by one of the following:
        Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
      • If the Medical Assistant program was not accredited, have a Medical Assistant Certification issued by one of the following. We will assist you in obtaining a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification:
        National Health career Association (CCMA), American Medical Technologist (RMA), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
    • Has completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States.

Work Requirements: Must be able to distinguish appropriate colors, communicate using telephone, and consistently reach and/or work above and below shoulder level lifting up to 50 pounds. Capable of walking or being on feet 90% of the time per day with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, standing, and sitting at desk 10% of the time. Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues and to chemicals, biological, and radioactive substances.
