Overview
Mohave County Public Health-Environmental Health Division is looking to fill an Environmental Health Specialist II position. We are located at 1130 Hancock Road, Bullhead City, AZ. The Environmental Health Division conducts various inspections to establishments adherence to environmental health rules and regulations as set by the State of Arizona. The Environmental Health Specialist will evaluate for compliance or violations to include, but are not limited to, motels, trailer parks, swimming pools, food retail stores, food service establishments, and kennels.

Salary Range 12 Steps 1-18 $ 20.09 - $33.21/hr.
Environmental Health Specialist I ->
Salary Range 15 Steps 1-18 $ 23.26 - $38.47/hr.
Environmental Health Specialist II ->
Salary Range 17 Steps 1-18 $ 25.65 - $42.41/hr.
- Monday - Friday - 8:00am-5:00pm
- Work will be both office and field environments.
- May occasionally be required to work early in the morning or later in the evening.
- Work may be subject to rotating weekends, call-backs due to inspections of temporary events, including a rare possibility of holidays.
- As an advocate for public and environmental health, work will include regular interactions with members of the public, business owners, and other departments and agencies.
- Possible outside exposures when participating in outreach community events.
- Work will include conducting educational sessions at schools, events, and for food service establishments and employees.
- This division serves as a regulatory authority. It is essential to be able to read and interpret a variety of codes and regulations, apply the proper operation, and maintain professional objectivity in all courses of action and communication.
- Must be able to travel throughout different county locations. Working conditions would include but not limited to indoor work in facilities with small or confined spaces, excessive noise, and/or noxious odors.
- Travel will be mostly in Mohave County but may be required to another part of the state as needed.
- Travel will be mostly within Mohave County with travel to additional outlying county locations as needed, including Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, Northern Arizona Strip, and other areas including trainings or meetings, while operating a Mohave County provided vehicle.
- Mohave County will cover room costs and per diem if required overnight stays.
- Work requires traveling throughout the county while operating a county vehicle in adverse conditions; weather, terrain, and altitudes.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including strong winds, extreme heat to extreme cold.
- Occasional moderate lifting of 25-50 lbs.
- Time spent standing, walking, running, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
- Inspects, evaluates, and renders decisions of compliance or violation on various licensed establishments and public facilities for adherence to environmental health rules and regulations (e.g., motels, trailer parks, public bathing facilities, swimming pools, food establishments, pet stores).
- Reviews construction plans and specifications for compliance with environmental health rules and regulations.
- Conducts field and office training and instruction sessions to educate owners and managers on environmental health practices; provides guidance on building, maintaining or correcting violations.
