Position
Purpose:

The Hemodialysis Chief Equipment Technician is responsible for the mechanical area and operational knowledge of the nursing and technical mechanics of dialysis preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and on-going quality assurance checks on dialysis equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Complete work in accordance to specific environment standards with minimal supervision.
- Set up and dismantle of equipment in the hemodialysis department of intensive care area.
- Initiate, monitor, assess, and evaluate patients throughout the treatment.
- Responsible for the overall operation, condition, maintenance and repair of all water treatment equipment and hemodialysis machine, so as to ensure safety of the patient as well as the staff operating the equipment.
- Knowledge of dialysis equipment and certified to do preventative maintenance (PM) and maintain a preventative maintenance program including support documentation.
- Establish and implement policy and procedures, including; daily disinfection logs, water treatment logs, patient treatment logs, billing forms, calibration logs, water microorganism logs, equipment repair logs, staff schedules and hemodialysis variance report forms. Revise hemodialysis physician orders and hemodialysis flow-sheet to accommodate the needs of the dialysis unit.
- Maintain calibration on all dialysis related meters and oversee that equipment operated is in accordance to manufactures recommendations, followed with daily/weekly/monthly schedule for calibrations.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Successful Completion of Fresenius Training Class (Preferred at hire; required completion within 18 months of hire).
Certifications:
BLS through the American Heart Association.
Board of Nephrology Nursing Education for Technicians (Preferred at hire; required completion within 18 months of hire).
Skills and Knowledge:
Basic computer skills;
Familiarity with conductivity/temperature meter.
Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multi-lingual, master’s degree).
