Overview
RISE provides services for people with disabilities including residential settings, day programs, employment assistance, managed care, and hourly supports. We are hiring Parents as Paid Caregiver Direct Support Professionals in our HBCS (Home and Community Based Services) program to provide direct support to people and/or their families, and as needed in their own homes through the implementation of the RISE Mission, Vision and Values and in compliance with all regulations and policies related to Home and Community Based Services programs.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience and education in the field of developmental disabilities or related field preferred; a requirement for Habilitation
- Desire and interest in working with people with disabilities or special needs
- Verbal and written communication skills adequate to the specific job
- At least eighteen (18) years of age
- Over twenty-one (21) years if required to drive a RISE vehicle and meet other requirements as specified by the RISE Insurance Agency
- Satisfactory background check and obtain Level One Fingerprint Card clearance
- Specific language abilities (other than English) may be required to meet the needs of people/families receiving support
- Knowledge of and respect for cultural differences
- Reliable transportation to the work site and access to a telephone
- Must complete training courses in CPR, First Aid, and Article 9
- This caregiver employment position is for parents with children ages birth to 17 years old; once the child turns 18 years of age, parents must sign a new different job description
- 40-hour per week per minor child limit for parents. This includes assessed hours for both Attendant Care and Habilitation
- Both parents can only work for a single Qualified Vendor agency
- Paid caregivers can only provide 16 hours of paid care in a 24-hour period
- Beginning July 1, 2025, any additional assessed hours for Attendant Care or Habilitation must be completed by an alternate Direct Support Professional
- Provide assistance to people receiving support through the implementation of the RISE mission, vision, and values
- Demonstrate respect and promote choice
- Promote the rights of people receiving support and contribute to an environment that is free of abuse, neglect and/or exploitation
- Assist people with daily living, hygiene, intimate care, meal planning/preparation/cleanup, mobility, encouraging relationships, and access to community and transportation
- Lifting/transferring, therapeutic objectives, behavioral supports, adequate supervision
- Medication and medical issues when indicated; follow medical protocols and doctor’s orders and implement specialized interventions as required
- Other needs of the person/family as identified by the team
- Provide support in specific service areas as needed:
Attendant Care, Habilitation, Respite, Companionship Home Provider - Act as an appropriate role model and support people in using appropriate language, dress, table manners, respect, and other behavior
- Ensure a clean and safe environment; respond quickly to emergencies
- Follow RISE personnel practices and policies including attendance, communication with supervisor, and mandatory trainings
- Maintain necessary records, logs, and other documentation as required
