Description:
The Operations Instrumentation and Electrical (I &
E) Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the power plant as well as the maintenance, repair, and monitoring of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment. This classification performs highly skilled work in inspecting, repairing, testing, adjusting, installing and removing all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.
- Perform operations on plant equipment and auxiliaries as directed, such as starting, stopping and clearing equipment during normal operations, emergencies and for repairs.
- Know and adhere to established first‑aid practices, plant safety rules and procedures including emergency response.
- Prepare maintenance requests for equipment needing repair.
- Prepare reports, logs and timesheets; perform general housekeeping duties.
- Participate in on‑ or off‑the‑job training as required.
- Respond personally to plant emergencies, including call‑outs and overtime as needed. Will be willing to work both rotating and standard shifts with periodic shift changes.
- Ensure compliance with the Environmental Compliance Program and take reasonable precautions to prevent non‑compliance incidents.
- Work safely in compliance with the company safety manual(s) and all environmental permits.
- Make routine chemical readings and tests.
- Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems. Participate in the administrative maintenance of plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
- Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.
- Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability. Assist in periodic physical inventories with UES warehouse personnel and standards.
