Our client, a growing construction organization based in King of Prussia, PA, is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting experience. This role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of construction project accounting, financial reporting, and job cost analysis. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financials, supporting project managers, and ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Key Responsibilities
WIP & Project Accounting
- Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules including revenue recognition, job costing, margin analysis, and forecasting.
- Support project managers with job cost reporting, budget-to-actual reviews, and cost-to-complete updates.
- Review project contracts for correct accounting treatment (billing terms, revenue method, etc.).
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger across construction entities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Cash Flow & Billing Support
- Oversee or support AIA billing, progress billing, and retainage tracking.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 3–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based industries.
- WIP accounting experience is required (percentage of completion, job costing, revenue recognition).
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
