Overview
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
CNC Lathe Machinist:
Set up, operate, or tend milling machine to mill, shape, or groove metal or plastic work pieces.
- Set up, operate, or tend milling machine to mill, shape, or groove metal or plastic work pieces.
- Repair/adjust set-ups and tooling, troubleshoot non-conforming processes, optimize "first run jobs" in collaboration with the shop manager.
- Use necessary inspection equipment to verify product conformance to requirements.
- Perform all set ups, including calculating speeds/feeds and selecting proper support equipment required to complete the job.
- Interpret prints and drawings; calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders.
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process; operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
- Foster a respectful work environment and contribute ideas and opinions as part of the team.
- Work a schedule of 4, 10-hour shifts with overtime available and a half-hour paid lunch.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a job shop environment (especially Haas vertical machining centers).
- Ability to work from a drawing; proficiency in setting up HAAS Lathe machines to meet or exceed quality and production standards.
- Experience repairing/adjusting set-ups and tooling, troubleshooting non-conforming processes, and optimizing first-run jobs.
- Proficiency with inspection equipment to verify product conformance to requirements.
- Experience with programing computers or electronic instruments, such as numerically controlled machine tools, and interpreting blueprints or drawings to determine methods or sequences of operations.
- Capacity to fit and assemble parts and align/secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
- Familiarity with measuring devices (micrometers, vernier calipers) and precision instruments for quality checks.
