PositionWe have an opportunity for 6 full‑time equivalent Band 7 AHP clinical leads with either an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy background. These roles will be based within the Emergency Department / Combined Assessment Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse and will integrate into the existing Front Door and Frailty teams, working in partnership with the Ayrshire, Carrick and Cumnock health and social care partnership.
Key Responsibilities• Act as an autonomous practitioner at the front door and across the frailty pathway, providing person‑centred, specialised, rapid assessment and care for patients with complex presentations.
• Support delivery of 12‑hour waiting times, prevent inappropriate admission to hospital and facilitate early supported discharge.
• Work within unscheduled care wards to support these needs.
• Degree level with current Professional registration (physiotherapy or occupational therapy).
• Post‑graduate registration qualification or experience in advanced practice assessment/ community/ rehabilitation.
• Substantial and varied clinical experience with significant experience of working within a relevant speciality at an advanced level.
This is a 7‑day service, working between 8 am and 6 pm on a rota basis. From 1 April 2026 full‑time hours will be 36 hours per week (pro rata for part‑time staff); weekend working is expected.
UK Driving Licence/Car OwnershipA UK car licence/car ownership is essential.
Essential- Current Health and Care Professions Council Registration
- Pre‑reg MSc / BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Evidence of excellence in clinical knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of local and national policies related to specialty
- Evidence of clinical leadership and supervision
- Ability to work independently, using initiative, and to cope well under pressure
- Effective organisational and time‑management skills
- Excellent communication skills, particularly with multi‑agencies
- Committed to team and personal development with evidence of self‑directed learning
- Good team worker
- Interest and skills in research, audit and quality improvement
- Formal appraisal training experience
- Information technology skills
