Overview
We are recruiting smart meter engineers to support our mission to drive the global renewable energy revolution. You’ll represent our brands in customers’ homes, be comfortable talking with customers, and perform the installation work.
You’ll fit meters, show customers how their meter and in-home display work, how it can help them save energy, and answer questions about the green energy movement we are leading. You’ll be supported by the Octopus Energy Services team and benefit from Octopus Energy’s technology to streamline admin and maximize service delivery.
Responsibilities- Fit meters and demonstrate how meters and in-home displays work.
- Explain how meters can help customers save energy and answer questions about the green energy revolution.
- Represent the Octopus Energy brands in customers’ homes and deliver top-class service.
- Collaborate with an office team to align on performance goals and continuously improve processes.
- Utilise company resources and technology to reduce administrative time and focus on service delivery.
- Participate in rotating call-out schedules and weekend work as outlined in the benefits.
- MOCoPA – held within the last 3 years and able to provide evidence
- Gas Safe – CCN1/MET1 or CMA1/MET1 (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
- £36,500 starting salary

- Rotating call-out schedule once every five weeks with a £250 retainer; paid door-to-door if called out
- Saturday rates: £50 attendance, £70 for a dual fuel installation, £35 for a single fuel installation; technical aborts paid at half rate
- Eligible candidates who pass initial questions will be invited to an in-person recruitment event (Octopalooza) to demonstrate skills and learn more about life as a Smart Meter Engineer with Octopus.
- You’ll be welcomed by the team, complete a practical trade test, and have a short interview with an Area Manager. You’ll have the chance to ask questions about the role and the company.
