Overview

Special Education Mentor / Teacher - URGENT NEED

Location:

Willimantic, CT Area.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 1st shift hours (school schedule), Full-Time Hours (30 hours+). Pay: $19+/hour (based on education and experience). Organization:

What You’ll Do

As a Learning Mentor, you’ll provide hands-on educational support and life skills coaching to students with disabilities who are transitioning from high school into adulthood. Every day brings something new and meaningful.

  • Provide individualized instruction in community-based settings.
  • Teach real-world skills like job readiness, communication, and independence.
  • Support students in navigating academics and life goals.
  • Track student progress and maintain IEP portfolios.
  • Apply effective behavior management and positive support strategies.
  • Travel locally (within 30 miles) to meet students where they are.
What You Bring
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in education or human services is a plus!).
  • 1+ years of experience in education, special education, or human services.
  • An understanding of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and related topics.
  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a clean driving record (3+ years).
  • Ability to obtain a Public Passenger Endorsement “A” from the DMV upon hire.
  • Willingness to pass pre-employment and random 10-panel drug testing.
  • Ability to travel locally within a 30-mile radius.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a big plus!
