Coordinates and performs a variety of circulation duties on behalf of the Kilgore Public Library; provides customer service to the public; responds to circulation and/or other types of library inquiries; updates and maintains patron account records; assists in maintaining library facilities, equipment, and collection materials; assists with programming where needed; and performs other related duties as assigned under the supervision of library staff.

- Staffs the circulation desk and provides customer service to patrons in person and via telephone.
- Responds to various types of circulation and/or other general library inquiries; communicates and explains the Library's policies and procedures to the public.
- Performs a variety of circulation duties; checks items in and out; renews materials; processes hold requests under supervision.
- Monitors and notifies patrons of missing/damaged materials and/or other account issues. Collects and receives receipts for library fees/fines; sells/recharges, prints and copies accounts; receives monies for Friends of the Library book sales, balances and maintains cash box.
- Contacts patrons by telephone regarding the availability of requested items and/or returned mail. Inputs, updates, and maintains patron account information in the Library's computer system.
- Assists patrons with basic reference inquiries and/or locating library materials as well as catalog training. Assists patrons with computers and Interlibrary Loans.
- Prepares items for shelving; places books and audiovisual items on display shelves. Empties book drop; delivers closing announcements.
- Prepares items for circulation, unpacks material shipments.
- Assists with Summer Reading Program online record keeping and registration.
- Assists with events (set up, clean up, other duties as needed).
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance required.
Indoor heated and cooled facility. Occasional outdoor events. Works with patrons of all ages and faculties. Saturday availability required.
Physical demandsWork is performed in a public library environment. Subject to sitting, standing for extended period, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds. Must be able to push/pull library carts and lift/carry library materials.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Required education and experience- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements; driver’s license, drug screen, background, physical.
