Join a team shaping the future of Aerospace & Defence technology! As a Materials & Production Planner
, you'll play a key role in ensuring that every component, material, and process is ready to keep our rocket propulsion programmes firing on all cylinders. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our manufacturing operations—balancing material supply, production scheduling, and supplier performance to deliver world-class quality on time and on budget.
- Run and maintain the MRP system to ensure materials and parts are available to meet production schedules.
- Plan and procure raw materials, components, and consumables in line with build plans and lead times.
- Raise and manage purchase orders
, track supplier performance, and resolve any shortages or delays. - Develop and maintain short- and medium-term production schedules
, ensuring alignment with the Master Production Plan. - Keep inventory levels balanced - preventing shortages, reducing waste, and managing obsolescence.
- Maintain MRP data accuracy
, including quality assurance and shelf-life materials. - Work cross-functionally with Procurement, Logistics, Quality, and Production teams to keep everything moving smoothly.
- Support stock control activities
, reporting on KPIs and identifying opportunities for improvement. - Mentor and support other team members, sharing best practices in planning and materials management.
- Champion continuous improvement to drive efficiency and reduce costs.
- Experienced in materials and/or production planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in using MRP/ERP systems (Tropos experience a plus).
- Confident managing complex BOMs
, long lead times, and multi-stage processes. - Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable juggling competing priorities.
- Strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (including Maths & English) and a Level 3 qualification (A-Level or equivalent).
- IT literate with strong Excel and MRP/ERP system skills.
- (Desirable) Vocational qualification such as CIPS, CILT, APICS, IOSCM or equivalent.
