Head of Private Client – Kidderminster
The Opportunity:A long-established and highly regarded legal firm with over 70 years of experience serving the Worcestershire community with a strong private client team is seeking to appoint a Head of Department to join and build its team.
This role offers the opportunity to step into a role where the work is available,
including estate administration, drafting wills, tax planning, creating and managing trusts and preparing lasting powers of attorney along with developing a team around you. The firm are also open to considering a team move of up to three Private Client Solicitors.
Key Responsibilities:The successful Private Client Solicitor and Head of Department will provide expert advice and guidance in the following areas:
- Administration of estates (taxable and non-taxable)
- Drafting standard and complex wills, including those involving trusts (e.g., life interest and discretionary trusts)
- Advising on inheritance tax (IHT) and capital gains tax (CGT) implications
- Preparing and registering lasting powers of attorney (LPAs) and enduring powers of attorney (EPAs)
- Making deputyship applications to the Court of Protection
- Drafting deeds of variation
- Establishing and administering trusts
- Supporting team members and contributing to a collaborative department culture
- Managing client relationships and business development
We are seeking an individual with the following skills and qualities:
- 8 years’ experience with the ability to hit the ground running on a caseload of private client matters
- A genuine passion for client care and delivering exceptional service
- Organised, proactive and self‑motivated with a strong desire for career growth
- Effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines
- Competence in IT, including Microsoft Office and internet-based tools
- 25days of annual leave plus UK bank holidays and additional ex gratia days (e.g., birthday and Christmas)
