Head of Private Client – Kidderminster

The Opportunity:

A long-established and highly regarded legal firm with over 70 years of experience serving the Worcestershire community with a strong private client team is seeking to appoint a Head of Department to join and build its team.

This role offers the opportunity to step into a role where the work is available,

including estate administration, drafting wills, tax planning, creating and managing trusts and preparing lasting powers of attorney along with developing a team around you. The firm are also open to considering a team move of up to three Private Client Solicitors.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful Private Client Solicitor and Head of Department will provide expert advice and guidance in the following areas:

  • Administration of estates (taxable and non-taxable)
  • Drafting standard and complex wills, including those involving trusts (e.g., life interest and discretionary trusts)
  • Advising on inheritance tax (IHT) and capital gains tax (CGT) implications
  • Preparing and registering lasting powers of attorney (LPAs) and enduring powers of attorney (EPAs)
  • Making deputyship applications to the Court of Protection
  • Drafting deeds of variation
  • Establishing and administering trusts
  • Supporting team members and contributing to a collaborative department culture
  • Managing client relationships and business development
Role requirements:

We are seeking an individual with the following skills and qualities:

  • 8 years’ experience with the ability to hit the ground running on a caseload of private client matters
  • A genuine passion for client care and delivering exceptional service
  • Organised, proactive and self‑motivated with a strong desire for career growth
  • Effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Competence in IT, including Microsoft Office and internet-based tools
