A leading international engineering and manufacturing organisation specialising in advanced propulsion systems for the defence sector is seeking a Utilities Engineer to join its Facilities team. The business operates across multiple UK and European sites, delivering highly technical solutions within a regulated industrial environment. The Role
The Utilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of site utility systems within a complex industrial environment. The position provides a mechanically biased maintenance service, ensuring reliable site operations while maintaining full compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company procedures.
The successful candidate will support boiler house operations and critical infrastructure systems, ensuring continuity of supply across the site. A BOAS certification is not essential at entry, however the successful individual will be expected to obtain certification and participate in the call out rota.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure continuity of site utility services
Support boiler house operations and duties
Maintain and repair fire suppression systems
Maintain HVAC systems
Maintain steam and compressed air systems
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Installations, remedial repairs, replacements, and upgrades
Respond to urgent reactive maintenance issues
General mechanical repairs across site systems
Participate in the boiler house call-out rota (after training and gaining experience)
Ensure site compliance with current regulations and safety standards
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in an engineering related discipline
Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience within an industrial or commercial environment
Experience maintaining HVAC systems
Desirable Skills & Experience
BOAS Certification (IBO) - training provided if not already held
Boiler house operation experience
IPAF and PASMA certification
Asbestos awareness
L8 awareness
Experience using CAFM or CMMS systems
Personal Attributes
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational and time management ability
Computer literate
Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings
