Are you passionate about making a difference in local communities? Do you take pride in creating clean, safe, and welcoming environments? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

At Community Housing, we put customers at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for a Neighbourhood Assistant to join our Housing Services team and play an important role in helping us maintain safe, well-kept neighbourhoods where people feel proud to live.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a visible, uniformed presence within our communities, building trust and engaging positively with customers.
  • Carry out and record planned health & safety checks in communal areas, ensuring shared spaces are safe and free from hazards.
  • Identify, report, and monitor communal repairs, escalating urgent health and safety concerns promptly.
  • Carry out cleaning audits, ensuring bin stores are clean, accessible, and clear of waste, while reporting bulk or fly-tipped items.
  • Monitor grounds maintenance services across neighbourhoods and escalate issues where required.
  • Support with regular water flushing in designated areas.
  • Assist Neighbourhood Coordinators during neighbourhood walkabouts, identifying and escalating issues to internal or external teams.
  • Keep noticeboards up to date with relevant information for residents.
  • Spot and report issues such as fly tipping, abandoned vehicles, vandalism, crime, or nuisance.
  • Support the delivery of community events and local initiatives.
  • Undertake ad hoc practical duties, such as delivering keys/fobs, taking meter readings, and using mobile devices to log inspections or checks.
What we’re looking for
  • Someone who relates well to customers and demonstrates respect, professionalism, and courtesy at all times.
  • A proactive individual who can work independently and take pride in delivering high standards.
  • A positive, flexible team player with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Good IT skills, with confidence using mobile devices to record inspections and report issues.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining clean, safe environments.
  • Ideally, experience in a customer-focused or caretaking role, including the ability to carry out small/general repairs.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team that values Respect, Collaboration, and making a positive difference in our communities.

Community Housing was formed in 2000 through a stock transfer from Wyre Forest District Council. We are a social business and one of Worcestershire’s largest Registered Providers of social housing, managing around 6000 homes and offering a range of services that help people to live independently.

We are proud of what we have achieved so far for the people and communities we support. Over the coming years we are focused on helping people to thrive and live independently, knowing they have a secure place they can call home, that they can afford, and with a landlord who cares about them.

Corporate Plan will help us to push forward and achieve results for our customers and communities. But even more so, it is our people that will drive our success.

With the right people, with the right skills, knowledge, behaviour, and values we achieve our goals.

When we are looking to recruit, we don’t just look for the best skillset or experience, we are also looking for people who will support our vision and ‘The Community Way’ of doing things.
