Job Purpose

The Senior Systems Engineer –
PLM Integration & Implementation is responsible for leading the full lifecycle implementation, integration, and governance of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems within a ship engine or large industrial engine manufacturing environment. The role plays a critical leadership position in defining, building, and rolling out PLM platforms that support end-to-end product development, from concept and design through manufacturing, service, and retirement.

This position requires strong authority in system setup and governance, hands‑on experience with new system rollouts (go‑live), and deep product development expertise, including building product structures and lifecycle processes from scratch. The role acts as a key technical and business leader during PLM software implementation, ensuring successful adoption, data integrity, and alignment with organizational strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end‑to‑end PLM system implementation, configuration, and rollout, including new system introductions and go‑live activities.
  • Define PLM product lifecycle management processes specific to ship engines or large industrial engines, covering design, engineering, manufacturing, and aftersales.
  • Act as the authority in setting up PLM system architecture, data models, workflows, and lifecycle states.
  • Lead software implementation activities in collaboration with vendors, system integrators, and internal IT teams.
  • Own go‑live readiness, cutover planning, hypercare support, and post‑implementation stabilization.
Product Development & Lifecycle Ownership
  • Drive PLM support for full product development cycles, from initial concept and product creation through detailed design, industrialization, production, and service.
  • Build and manage product structures (EBOM, MBOM, SBOM), configuration rules, variants, and options from scratch.
  • Ensure robust engineering change management, version control, and configuration governance.
  • Support development of complex mechanical, electrical, and systems‑based products typical of ship engines or large industrial machinery.
  • Design and manage integrations between PLM and enterprise systems, including ERP, MES, CAD, simulation, and document management systems.
  • Ensure seamless data flow, traceability, and synchronization across the digital thread.
  • Define integration standards, interfaces, and middleware requirements to support scalable system architecture.
Leadership, Governance & Authority
  • Provide senior‑level technical and functional leadership with decision‑making authority over PLM system setup, standards, and governance.
  • Establish PLM governance frameworks, data ownership models, and lifecycle rules across engineering and manufacturing functions.
  • Mentor engineers, system administrators, and key users on PLM best practices and system usage.
  • Influence senior management and stakeholders on PLM strategy, roadmap, and digital transformation initiatives.
Stakeholder & Change Management
  • Collaborate closely with product development, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and IT teams.
  • Lead change management activities, ensuring user readiness, training, and adoption across functions.
  • Act as the primary technical interface between business stakeholders and external PLM vendors.
Data Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure high data quality, accurate migration, validation, and audit readiness.
  • Support compliance with applicable industry standards, classification society requirements, and internal quality systems.
  • Continuously improve PLM processes, automation, and system performance based on lessons learned and operational feedback.
Qualifications & Experience Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Systems) or Computer Science.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Engineering Management is an advantage.
Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in PLM systems engineering, implementation, or enterprise application integration.
  • Proven experience in PLM product lifecycle management within ship engines, marine propulsion systems, or large industrial engine manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading…
