Responsibilities- Protect public figures, coordinate crime prevention activities, and guard government property.
- Monitor federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, and roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property.
- Provide detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred.
- Use provided communication devices, such as two-way radios, clearly and concisely.
- Provide emergency response and evaluation procedures.
- Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Be a United States citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard).
- Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual name and social security number.
- A minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full‑duty status with a full‑service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.
- A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge.
- Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X‑ray machines.
- Must fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.
- Must be able to qualify with a semi‑automatic.
- Strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a customer service‑driven mindset.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers.
- PSO’s must be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties.
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, or stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors, daytime or nighttime; outdoor posts may require withstanding extreme heat, humidity, cold, and/or severe weather conditions.
- Frequent contact with the public, law enforcement, and dispatch center requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to remain on post for up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break.
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with the ability to react quickly to various unexpected and dangerous situations.
- Ability to use post‑security equipment (handheld and walk‑through metal detectors, X‑ray machine, CCTV).
- Ability to read Post Orders, assignments, BOLO, write reports, and respond to both routine and emergency dispatches/orders.
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals or intervene in a crisis.
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs.
- At least 2 years of college.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- All required PSO training and certifications.
- CPR / First Aid.
- Firearms Qualification.
- Handcuffing tactics and instruction.
- Initial weapon training.
- O.C. aerosol spray.
- MEB expandable baton.
- Basic training exhibits 72/64 hours.
- DHS letter of suitability.
- DHS suitability.
- National Weapons Detection Training Program.
- FPS Orientation Certificate.
