Overview
The Hyatt Centric Key West Rooms Controller is responsible for managing daily room inventory, room assignments, and coordination between Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Revenue Management to ensure optimal room utilization, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency. This role plays a critical function in balancing guest expectations, operational realities, and revenue priorities. This role will also assign housekeeping board assignments.
Responsibilities Room Inventory & Assignment- Manage daily room assignments, room blocks, and room status in the PMS
- Optimize room allocation based on arrivals, departures, stayovers, VIPs, and special requests
- Balance room types to maximize occupancy and revenue while minimizing operational disruptions
- Monitor overbooking situations and work closely with leadership to resolve proactively
- Serve as the primary liaison between Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Reservations regarding room readiness and availability
- Communicate room status changes and priorities clearly and consistently
- Coordinate out-of-order and out-of-service rooms, ensuring accurate system updates
- Ensure VIP, loyalty, and special-needs guests are pre-assigned appropriately
- Support the Front Desk in resolving room-related guest concerns
- Assist with room moves and recovery strategies when needed
- Maintain accurate room status reporting throughout the day
- Audit room discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
- Assist with daily forecasting and pickup monitoring as needed
- Ensure PMS data integrity related to room inventory
- Partner with Revenue Management to support yield strategies and room type controls
- Protect premium inventory while maximizing sellable room nights
- Identify opportunities to upsell and support Front Desk upsell initiatives

- Prior hotel Front Office or Rooms Division experience required
- Strong working knowledge of hotel PMS (Opera preferred)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Experience in rooms control or front office leadership
- Understanding of revenue management and inventory strategies
- Strong collaboration skills across departments
