CORRECTIONAL PROBATION SENIOR OFFICER – Position Number: – Salary: $54,202.72 (Minimum annually) – Posting Closing Date: 03/06/2026 – Salary determined by current pay procedures. This is an internal promotional opportunity; only current FDC employees are considered. Applicants must apply electronically via People First system.
- Supervise, surveil, and maintain a specialized caseload of youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community control, pre‑trial intervention, offender releases, and other classifications as required.
- Perform duties related to intake officer, court liaison officer, trainer, and electronic monitoring device installer.
- Direct and supervise a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center and monitor a residential treatment facility; act as on‑site departmental representative supervising program participants.
- Encourage and foster offender compliance through guidance, goal setting, monitoring behavior, and supervision in the community.
- Conduct field and office supervision visits via personal contact, collateral/community contacts, surveillance contacts, telephone, and electronic methods to ensure compliance and provide assistance.
- Show sensitivity to public and victim needs, concerns and complaints and take appropriate, prompt action.
- Assess offender needs, treatment options, and supervision objectives; refer as appropriate; establish and record structured treatment programs, client management classifications, pre‑trial contracts, and other improvement programs.
- Utilize the information management system to develop offender payment plans; enforce compliance; maintain case records electronically and in hard copy; take digitized photographs for placement on the site.
- Conduct pre‑sentence, pre‑trial, post‑sentence, interstate compact, sentencing guidelines investigations; recommend to authorities on supervision, revocation, diversion, and incarceration.
- Represent the department in hearings; report non‑compliance; prepare violation reports.
- Maintain liaison with judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, non‑profit agencies, governmental agencies, other facilities, departmental bureaus, and criminal justice representatives; develop partnerships with local law enforcement.
- Conduct individual and group counseling; interview offenders.
- Monitor and test for controlled substances and alcohol.
- Develop and maintain contact with resources for placement of offenders in public service assignments.
- Conduct searches and make arrests of offenders under supervision.
- Install and maintain electronic/radio equipment for monitoring and interpret data.
- Handle administrative duties; assist supervisors in absence; serve on teams, committees, task forces; attend and deliver training; act as day‑to‑day training officer.
- Ability to work independently or under stressful conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of techniques for advising, interviewing, and counseling.
- Ability to review and analyze data.
- Ability to assist offenders in solving problems.
- Ability to conduct investigations.
- Ability to apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Certified in accordance with Florida Statutes 943.13.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid driver’s license as required by Florida Administrative Code and Statutes.
