The Seattle Community Assisted Response & Engagement (CARE) manages the 9-1-1 Call Center and the Community Crisis Response team. The 9-1-1 Call center handles all emergency calls for the City of Seattle and is the busiest Emergency Call Center in the State. The Community Crisis Response team consists of diverse behavioral health professionals (BHPs) who are dispatched to non-emergency calls primarily focused on responding to mental health crises.

CARE is located in downtown Seattle, and this position will primarily work with the Community Crisis Response team.

Community Assisted Response & Engagement (CARE) is hiring a temporary Administrative Staff Assistant to assist with the expansion of the Community Crisis Response (CCR) Unit in 2026. This position will work under the direction of the CCR manager to support the development of staffing design, operational protocols, quality assurance and improvement, and management strategies for the CCR program. We are seeking a forward-thinking and proactive Administrative Assistant to assist in implementing the functional and operational policies concerned with guiding rules and principles within public safety with emphasis on Low Acuity incidents which are less severe types of behavioral and mental health crisis that do not necessarily require a medical unit or armed police officer to respond.

  • Develops, coordinates, prepares and submits the annual budget for a small unit or section.
  • Monitors and manages the unit's budget; authorizes line item expenditures; maintains accurate records of expenditures; and prepares financial status reports.
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of personnel related activities such as the hiring processes and the investigation of personnel problems; coordinates the writing of job descriptions and performance evaluations; participates in the development of interview questions and procedures and serves on interview boards.
  • Conducts research and data collection on special assignments and projects; coordinates the unit response to inquiries and proposals from other sections of the department or other departments.
  • Coordinates and directs a variety of office management functions and activities such as preparing purchase request for supplies and equipment; and oversees the maintenance and processing of payroll and attendance records; and develops and implements office procedures.
  • Supvises subordinate's work; and directs the preparation of appropriate personnel forms.
  • Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Requires one year of experience in administrative analysis, budget administration or preparation, office management, personnel administration, program administration, as staff assistant, or in a closely related field; and a Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, or another closely related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience that provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Compensation and Benefits:

This position is a temporary non-represented position and is part of the City of Seattle Step Progression pay program. The full salary range (Step 1-5) for this position is $41.44; $43.15; $44.87; $46.59; $48.31 per hour.
