Position SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic VPK Lead Teacher to lead our Pre-Kindergarten classroom at Poinciana Elementary. The ideal candidate will implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of 4- and 5-year-old children. You will work collaboratively with families, support staff, and district leadership to ensure a high-quality educational experience.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a VPK classroom that meets Florida State VPK standards.
- Plan, prepare, and implement daily lesson plans to support school readiness.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate developmental records.
- Create a nurturing, positive, and structured learning environment.
- Engage families and communicate regularly about their child's progress.
- Uphold all district and state health, safety, and child‑care requirements.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff on best practices and program goals.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or higher (Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred).
- Meet Florida VPK lead instructor credential requirements (e.g., emergent literacy training/FL Standards training as required).
- Ability to pass background screening and health requirements for employment.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Prior classroom experience in early childhood or VPK settings.
