Registered Nurse

We are looking for registered nurses who are wanting a new challenge and have a passion to do things differently, we are offering excellent opportunities for nurses to join us at this exciting time. The post holder will participate in the delivery of high standards of care to patients and their families. In particular take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients.

They will participate in the management of the ward when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running in the absence of the Ward Manager or Senior Staff Nurse. They will take responsibility for their own self-development helping to provide a suitable learning environment and high standards of clinical practice. To recognise own limitations and seek advice and support from senior staff.

Lilford ward is 9 bedded inpatient facility for haematology patients and also we have day case patients for chemotherapy and transfusions. The ward also comprises of a Haematology assessment room, where patients are assessed before being admitted to the hospital if required. In addition, a designated TYA (Teenage and Young Adult) facility provides chemotherapy service provision for haematology patients between the ages of 18-24 years.

Trust administration of intrathecal chemotherapy is also delivered. The ward also operates out of hours day case patient support.

Main duties of the job

The role of the nurse/midwife is to provide a holistic, high quality, patient focused, comprehensive, efficient and safe service for the patients cared for at Kettering General Hospital, acting with responsibility, accountability and integrity; reporting adverse events and poor practice to the person in charge. The nurse/midwife would be expected to effectively and responsibly use resources and engage in change and service improvements.

The post holder may be required to rotate through other wards and departments as required to support Trust business and patient care. The post holder will act at all times in accordance with the NMC code and local standards of care and policies. You will role-model high standards of care, provide guidance and support to colleagues, and foster positive working relationships across the multidisciplinary team.

You will be a visible, approachable presence for staff, patients, and families, constructively challenging practices when necessary, and promoting a safe and supportive clinical environment. You will also contribute to service development, policy implementation, and the continuous improvement of patient care pathways.
