This is a new post required to expand Hepatology services for the effective delivery of a program of work in the Liver Health Checks pilot. Working with existing team members the post holder will deliver clinics designed to identify people with undiagnosed cirrhosis within target populations at risk for metabolic liver disease, alcohol related liver disease or people at risk of viral hepatitis.

The Band 6 Hepatology Nurse will work within the Kettering General Hospital Hepatology Service, supporting the delivery of high‑quality care for patients with chronic liver disease. The post‑holder will have a particular focus on the coordination and delivery of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) surveillance, ensuring timely ultrasound scanning, AFP testing, and appropriate follow‑up. The post holder will be required to work with key stakeholders and patients across the network, proactively supporting timely and rapid progression from diagnosis to cancer surveillance pathways for those identified on fibro‑scan assessment to have liver cirrhosis.

Coordinate the HCC surveillance pathway under the supervision of the Senior hepatology nurses.

Manage a delegated caseload of patients requiring 6‑monthly ultrasound scans and AFP tests.

Track due and overdue surveillance, ensuring timely scheduling and follow‑up.

Liaise with radiology, consultants, and administrative teams to resolve delays or missed investigations.

Escalate abnormal imaging or blood test results promptly to senior nursing or medical staff.

Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to audit and quality improvement activities.
