Role Overview
Do you want to be the face of housing in your community and make a real difference to tenants' lives? This is your chance to be part of a bold new chapter for Housing Services at North Northamptonshire Council. We are reshaping our Housing Management Service to become more visible, proactive and closer to our tenants than ever before. As a Neighbourhood Housing Officer, you'll manage your own patch, working directly with tenants and communities to deliver excellent, responsive services.
No two days will be the same – you'll balance support with enforcement, problem‑solving with prevention, and relationship‑building with results. You will be part of a service that is:
- Visible and connected – smaller patches, stronger links with tenants and communities.
- Cleaner and safer – more caretakers working across our estates.
- Supportive and responsive – stronger focus on helping vulnerable tenants and quicker support with adaptations.
- Engaged and accountable – a stronger tenant voice and more opportunities for residents to shape our services.
- Being a visible presence on estates, carrying out visits, inspections and tenancy checks.
- Building positive relationships with tenants and communities, getting to know their needs.
- Supporting tenants to sustain their homes, including providing advice, assistance and enforcement where needed.
- Tackling tenancy breaches and anti‑social behaviour quickly and fairly.
- Preventing and recovering arrears.
- Identifying vulnerable households and working with partners to make sure they get the right support.

Experience in tenancy management, income, housing, community work or a related service.
Excellent people skills – approachable, confident, and able to build trust quickly.
The resilience to handle challenging situations and find solutions that work.
Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
