We are recruiting a Communications Officer (Social Media) to support a local authority communications team during a period of increased workload. This is a hands‑on role focused on social media delivery, campaign support, and day‑to‑day communications activity.

This role suits someone who can operate in a public‑sector environment, manage competing priorities, and deliver accurate, timely content without hand‑holding.

• Support Senior Communications Managers in delivering internal and external communications
• Create, schedule, and publish content across multiple channels, with a strong focus on social media
• Assist with communications and marketing campaigns from planning through delivery
• Provide administrative and back‑office support to keep the service running efficiently
• Work alongside Communications Specialists across social media, campaigns, media relations, design, and internal communications
• Help keep residents, staff, and stakeholders informed and engaged

• Some flexibility is required
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary
• Additional hours may be required during peak periods

• Previous experience in communications or marketing
• Strong social media content creation and channel management skills
• Excellent written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, public‑facing environment
