Kettering General NHS Foundation Hospitals are seeking an experienced, motivated and dynamic clinical pharmacist with excellent communication and leadership skills to join our established, friendly clinical pharmacy team.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering clinical pharmacy services to the Adult Medicine and Planned Care Directorate of the Medicine Division. This role will contribute to the delivery of clinical pharmacy service covers all inpatient areas including Respiratory, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Care of the Elderly and Acute/Emergency Medicine.
Main duties of the job- To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services within Adult Medicine
- To provide expert pharmaceutical care through the promotion of safe, appropriate and clinically effective use of drug therapy; ensures risks within medicine management are identified and managed; ensures compliance with all relevant medicines - related legislation and policy.
- To manage allocated staff to ensure the effective operation of the day to day delivery of pharmacy services to the Adult Medicine division and deputise for the Medicine Lead Pharmacist when needed.
- To ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of medicines utilising local and national data to drive improvements in efficiencies.
- To advise senior and junior medical staff and nurses on medicines management issues.
- To support the Lead Pharmacist for Professional Development with the development of all staff within the pharmacy department.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as requested by the Chief Pharmacist.

- Support the Lead Pharmacist for Medicine to manage the pharmacy clinical service across the Adult Medicine Division
- Providing professional leadership and support for other pharmacy services as needed.
- Liaising with nursing and medical staff, senior clinicians and managers to drive forward improvements within Adult Medicine
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to and enthusiasm for research, audit and education in the clinical area.
- To act as a deputy for Team medicine when needed.
- To be a line manager to designated staff within the team. To be responsible for managing attendance and performance, and identifying staff training needs through individual performance development plans.
- To participate in the provision of the Pharmacy on-call emergency duty service (2nd on-call)
- Educated to Master's degree in pharmacy level or equivalent level of education, training or experience
- Registration with the GPHC
- Achieved postgraduate clinical qualification (or equivalent knowledge/experience) diploma /MSc Clinical Pharmacy
- Registered Independent prescriber
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, UKCPA or other Society
- RPS faculty recognition or Advanced Pharmacist Accreditation
- Advanced Clinical Practitioner
- Extensive post-graduate hospital clinical pharmacy experience
- Clinical experience in a range of ward/clinical areas
- Experience of working on consultant ward rounds
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Expert clinical knowledge of commonly prescribed medicines with Medicine
- Good knowledge of NICE guidelines for common conditions
- Preparation of guidelines involving other healthcare professionals
- NHS arrangements, eg ICB, NICE, CQC, Clinical Governance
- Excellent interpersonal skills, honest, trustworthy, motivated, influencing and negotiating skills
- Time management/Organisation/Delegation/ Prioritisation
- IT (Microsoft/Powerpoint/Ascribe)
- Line management/supervision
