Job summary
Planned Care Unit has a vacancy for a part time Ward Clerk to work a Saturday. Hours will be between 08.00 and 16.00.
Team player required with ability to work independently and on initiative, flexible approach to tasks in a changing environment, excellent communication, organisational, interpersonal skills, stay focused and calm in difficult situations and competent in using IT systems.
Responsibilities- Meet and greet patients.
- Maintain and update patient records/ward notes and other ward records using computer based in‑house systems.
- Use effective communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with patients on a daily basis in a busy environment either via telephone or face to face.
- Photocopy/scan documents as required.
- Ensure patient confidentiality at all times in line with the Trust policy.
- Assist in the induction and development of others by demonstrating own duties.
- Deal with telephone calls in a timely manner.
- Update Careflow and e.diary with attendances and discharging of patients.
- Update Mediviewer and Careflow – preparing notes for digital filing.
- Liaise with clinical and nursing staff to complete daily ad‑hoc duties.

Person Specification – Qualifications- NVQ level 2 qualification in administration or equivalent hospital experience
- Good standard of education to include Maths and English
- Knowledge of data entry
- Knowledge of admin procedures
- Knowledge of GDPR
- Previous experience of working in a hospital environment
- Knowledge of use of office equipment – e‑mail, photocopy, printing
- Experience of self‑management, organising own time and daily tasks
- Experience of dealing with difficult situations
- Working as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability
