Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate chemistry and biology courses (e.g., General Chemistry I and II, General and Human Biology, Organic Chemistry I and II, associated labs) as needed.
  • Prepare course materials, including syllabi, lectures, assignments, and assessments.
  • Facilitate student learning through evidence‑based instructional practices and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Provide regular office hours and academic support to students.
  • Grade assignments, exams, and lab reports in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Maintain course records, including grades and assessment data.
  • Coordinate with lab staff as needed to support course delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of courses and curriculum.
  • Attend department meetings and participate in curriculum decision‑making.
  • Serve on departmental committees as assigned.
  • Participate in program assessment activities and accreditation‑related processes.
  • Contribute to student success initiatives, advising events, or outreach activities as appropriate.
  • Engage professionally and collegially with faculty, staff, and students to support the mission of the department and institution.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Prior college‑level teaching experience, especially with introductory chemistry and introductory biology, general chemistry, human biology, or associated labs.
  • Experience using evidence‑based instructional practices (active learning, flipped teaching, inquiry‑based labs).
  • Demonstrated experience developing curriculum, lab materials, or assessment tools.
  • Familiarity with common laboratory instrumentation (e.g., FTIR, UV‑Vis, GC, etc).
  • Experience with online learning tools, LMS platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.), or digital homework systems (Labflow, Web Assign, etc).
  • Interest or experience in student advising, STEM outreach, or departmental service.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Sciences).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate chemistry and biology lecture and lab courses such as General Chemistry I and II, General Biology, Human Biology, and Organic Chemistry I and II.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to high‑quality undergraduate education.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students in an inclusive learning environment.
  • Evidence of organizational skills necessary for course and lab management.
