We are seeking energetic, confident and resilient individuals to join a supportive pastoral team as a Student Support Officer. This is a highly visible and hands‑on position working directly with pupils to help remove barriers to learning and support their wellbeing, behaviour and engagement.
You will be part of a trusted, proactive team working with students both in lessons and around the academy. The role requires presence, sound judgement and consistency of approach - no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities- Provide in‑the‑moment support to pupils who are struggling academically, socially or behaviourally.
- Supervise and support pupils in internal alternative provision and reintegration spaces.
- Help pupils successfully reintegrate into mainstream learning after absence.
- Build strong, respectful relationships to help students feel safe, understood and included.
- Support behaviour, attendance and pupil wellbeing across the academy.
- Work closely with pastoral leaders, teachers and external agencies to deliver personalised support plans.

- Comfortable working on their feet and engaging with young people throughout the day.
- Able to build trust quickly and maintain consistent, fair approaches.
- Energetic, emotionally intelligent and solution focused.
- Passionate about helping pupils succeed, even when they find school difficult.
- Experience working in schools, youth work or educational support is advantageous, though character, judgement and mindset are what matter most.
