Tradewind Recruitment is working with a range of inclusive and supportive schools across Northampton and the surrounding areas to recruit British Sign Language (BSL) Specialist Teaching Assistants
. These opportunities are ideal for passionate individuals who are committed to supporting deaf and hearing-impaired pupils to access education in a meaningful and inclusive way.

The majority of roles will support primary-aged pupils
, however we also work with schools seeking support at secondary level
, so applicants with experience across either age range are encouraged to apply. Placements may be short-term, long-term, or ongoing depending on school requirements and your availability.

• Provide one-to-one and small group support using British Sign Language
• Support pupils with communication, learning, and social interaction
• Adapt classroom materials to meet individual communication needs
• Encourage independence and inclusion within the classroom environment
• Work closely with teachers, SEND staff, and external professionals
• Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and wider school activities

• Holds BSL Level 2 or above (Level 3 desirable)
• Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired children or young people
• Previous experience in an educational or SEND setting is beneficial but not essential
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for inclusive education
