Consultant Dermatologist (Full‑Time)
An exciting opportunity has arisen and applications are invited for the post of a fifth whole‑time Consultant Dermatologist to work in the Dermatology department based at Kettering General Hospital.
Department OverviewThe dermatology service currently comprises two Consultant Dermatologists (one a dual‑qualified Plastic Surgeon), one locum consultant completing CSR application, one specialty doctor, four dermatology nurse specialists, an advanced surgical nurse practitioner and two skin cancer nurse specialists. There is full general nursing and admin support. We have a dedicated outpatient area within a large medical centre which has facilities for phototherapy, patch testing and dressings.
There are two well‑equipped operating rooms which support a strong surgical interest in the department. We treat the majority of all the patients seen with skin cancer within the department. Most of the remaining cases are treated by colleagues within plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery. There is a small GPwSI‑led community service and as the Trust develops the collaborative workflow through Northamptonshire this role would be expected to support the community work and be prepared to work more within the community as demand requires.
We are looking for a dynamic colleague to enhance our services and would favour someone with a special interest to complement those of the current service.
- There is capacity to develop new services and tailor the job to an individual's area of interest.
- Officiate face‑to‑face and virtual clinics in Kettering and at community hospitals based in Corby and/or Irthlingborough.
- Collaborate with plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery colleagues on skin‑cancer and other cases.
- Participate in the community workstream and support the GPwSI‑led community service as demand requires.
- Review and agree the exact allocation of programmed activities and commitments with the Chief Executive of the Trust.
- Maintain access to office facilities and computer with intranet/internet access.
- Must be included on the Specialist Register for Dermatology or be within six months of achieving the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview for the post.
Assignments and duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of the changing requirements of the service. Applications will be transferred to the TRAC system. Safeguarding is everyone's business; the Trust considers safeguarding a priority.
Equal Opportunities EmployerWe are an equal opportunities employer, which aims to employ a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve.
