Band 2 Job overviewHarrowden C ward is looking to recruit a part time Ward Clerk to join their busy team.
Hours will be 08:00 to 16:00
You will need to be a team player, have the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, a flexible approach to tasks in a changing environment, excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal skills, stay focused and calm in difficult situation and competent in using IT systems.
Main duties of the job- To maintain the patient records and other ward records using in-house computer-based systems.
- Update in-house systems and prepare notes for digitalisation.
- To communicate with the patients regarding demographics and other personal details to ensure the patient administration system is updated.
- To prepare the unit ready for the following day with the relevant documentation.
- To use effective communication skills to deal with telephone queries according to the agreed standard and give the appropriate information as required.
- Always observe confidentiality (patients, visitors, personnel or any trust details)
- Observe all instructions regarding policies and procedures of departments and Trust

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- To maintain the patient records and other ward records using in-house computer-based systems.
- To communicate with the patients regarding demographics and other personal details to ensure the patient administration system is updated.
- To complete the process to check and sent discharge notes.
- Update in-house systems and prepare notes for digitalisation.
- To prepare the unit ready for the following day with the relevant documentation.
- Committed to developing own skills and assist in training and development of others
- To use effective communication skills to deal with telephone queries according to the agreed standard and give the appropriate information as required.
- To photocopy/scan documents as required.
Always observe confidentiality (patients, visitors, personnel or any trust details) - Observe all instructions regarding policies and procedures of departments and Trust
- Ensure the reception desk is clean and tidy at all times
- NVQ level 2 qualification in administration or equivalent hospital experience
- Good standard of Education to include Maths and English
- Proficient keyboard and data entry experience
- Previous experience of working in a hospital environment
- Demonstration understanding of GRDP
- Experience in the use of computerised administration systems careflow
- Be able to demonstrate the use of office equipment including photocopier, printers and telephone
- Demonstrate a high level of personal-self management and organisation i.e organising own day-today activities
- Demonstrate skills of tact, sensitivity when dealing with complaints and enquired both verbally and written
- Be able to respond to and manage appropriately to patient and families where there is distress/emotional circumstance
