Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Mechanic

SUMMARY: Perform repair of large diesel and gasoline engines, tanks, and pick‑up trucks. Maintain repair logs and scheduled maintenance programs for all rolling stock. Perform driver and delivery duties on an as‑needed basis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform repair and maintenance on all plant rolling stock to assure good condition of vehicles.
  • Oversee maintenance program on all rolling stock and complete repair logs as required.
  • Fill in for driver/delivery persons on an as‑needed basis.
  • Keep the work area clean and safety conscious.
  • Perform all other duties in mechanical or driver areas as requested by the Plant Manager.
  • Keep abreast of legal requirements for trucks and heavy equipment and assure company equipment meets these requirements.
  • Perform maintenance and repair at the plant, marina, fuel dock, gas station as needed.
  • Other work‑related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must carry a current commercial driver’s license (CDL) with required endorsements and have a good driving record.
  • Must be willing to work some overtime during busy seasons and be available for call‑outs.
  • Must be professional and courteous with customers at all times.
  • Must be able to work well with others and perform a variety of duties.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must have a current commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a hazmat endorsement.
PHYSICAL REQUISITES PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires constant mobility. An individual may need to sit, stand, crawl, or lie down as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting as required. Proper lifting techniques required. Must be able to occasionally lift 75 lbs., routinely lift 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position requires constant exposure to industrial areas, electrical components, valves, piping, pressure components, petroleum by‑products, etc. Exposure to the marine outdoor environment.
