Peace Health is seeking an experienced Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Ketchikan, Alaska!

Ideal Candidate
- Certified Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner with an interest in rural medicine
- Post-training experience in a primary care setting preferred
- Ability to work well as part of a 7-member primary care team

Peace Health has been serving the communities of Southeast Alaska since 1923 with Ketchikan Medical Center, a 25-bed critical-access hospital offering comprehensive trauma care, outpatient and home health services, and a 29-bed long-term care facility. Primary and specialty medical care is provided by Peace Health Medical Group Ketchikan and Prince of Wales Island. Our Trauma IV emergency department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, staffed by physicians who are independent contractors employed by National Emergency Services (NES).
- Guaranteed first-year income, based on a 1.0 FTE and years of direct experience (0-3, 3-5, 5-9, 10+): $82.77/hr - $94.30/hr.

Job Summary
Within scope of practice and in alignment with both hospital staff bylaws and PHMGs physician supervision expectations, responsible for advanced level of nursing evaluation, clinical assessment, prescribing and monitoring medications and follow-up care for patient. Responsible for patient and family teaching.
Essential Functions
- Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care.
- Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
- Gives directions to nursing and other staff.
- Prescribes medications and treatments and ongoing medication management. Orders lab and diagnostic tests when appropriate and interprets test results.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals and consultations according to established standards.
- Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
